Dear brothers and sisters,
Time flies! I cannot believe that it has been a year since I arrived to Rockford to begin our journey together. I remember what I wrote to you in my first letter, “You are an example of what a church should be, ‘An open group of people, always ready to serve God through the love, care and attention to our neighbors.'”
After a year walking together, I can see your commitment in “being a church,” where everyone want to help, everyone give ideas, and everyone feel part of this spiritual family.
It comes to my mind what King David told to his son Solomon when he was instructed to build the temple of Israel, “Be strong and of good courage, and act. Do not be afraid or dismayed; for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.” (1 Cro. 28:20)
During this last year we have accomplished some goals, but we aren’t done with God’s work. We need to continue working and creating ways in how to share the Good News with others.
Our church is located in a very special neighborhood in Rockford. We have heard, watched and read about what have happened in our community in the last months. The question we may ask ourselves is, Are we doing as much as we can to share God’s love with our neighbors? There are 7 kids from our neighborhood who come to our activities. Are we loving them? Do we care about them?
Friends, God calls us to be courageous and to act, which means that we need to keep going in our desire to serve Him, no matter our weaknesses, no matter our differences and no matter our limitations, we need to continue walking, serving, sharing and loving.
I invite you to be always open to new and great things that God can do through all of us. “Do not be afraid or dismayed; for the Lord God, my God, is with you.”
In His name,
