What started as one way to celebrate CUMC’s 175th year of worship and service to the Rockford community in 2011, has become an annual celebration of the many cultures of Centennial. We call it the Taste of Centennial.
Every spring church members gather at the church to proudly showcase their homeland. Countries represented include The British Isles (Britain, Scotland, Ireland, Wales) Chile, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Norway, Puerto Rico, Sudan, Sweden and the USA. Each country has a display table. These tables are beautifully decorated with artifacts and items from each country. Many members also wear authentic dress. Delicious dishes unique to each country are prepared and “tastes” of these dishes are available at the tables.
Everyone is welcome. Come share this wonderful multicultural experience right here in Rockford. Watch this web site for information on the next Taste of Centennial.
